Contribute to Feast 2025
Lend your helping hands to our Work Trade Crew
We are looking for reliable and capable individuals to help us make Feast happen. Each year we are so grateful for the dedicated, talented folks who offer their hands and hearts to help make our world go round. If you have not attended Feast yet as a work trade crew member, below is some more information about work trade opportunities at this event.
Work trade at Feast will look different this year. How?
We are reducing the number of hours required to complete a work trade at Feast, in exchange for a monetary contribution. Work trade positions will require a commitment of 8-10 hours either before, during or after the event. In exchange for fewer required work trade hours, we are asking for a $100 contribution. We hope that this will help make Feast more enjoyable for everyone involved (more free time enjoying Feast!) and more sustainable financially for us. Since this is a much smaller event, the majority of attendees are work trading or leading classes and workshops, which makes it difficult to sustain financially if all of those people attend without any monetary contribution. Once we make arrangements via email, you can go ahead and purchase a Contributor Ticket on the Feast registration page. This ticket will act as your work trade deposit: we will not be able to save you a spot on the work trade crew until you complete this step.
How is work trade at Feast different than at The Sharpening Stone Earth Skills Gathering?
Instead of dividing work trade into different crews during the event, it’s all hands on deck. Everyone helps with everything at Feast, and work trade tasks are more spontaneous. There are some kitchen tasks involved, but since we are all cooking on the fire together, we don’t have a kitchen crew producing meals in the kitchen. Instead, we sometimes need help making corn tortillas on the fire or preparing veggies to put on skewers. We still have the composting toilet system to maintain, but there is only a fraction of the people so it’s much less work.
What does setup/cleanup crew look like at Feast?
The main tasks during setup are preparing the firewood and processing/butchering animals. If you are interested in helping with animal transformation before Feast, you can arrive two days early to fulfill your work trade commitment that way. There is a lot to clean up when Feast is over. We need folks who want to commit to staying on Tuesday, October 21st to help clean up and of course, help us eat the leftovers!
Can teens apply to work trade?
Yes! Motivated teens ages 16+ can apply for work trade. They will not be expected to complete as many hours as adults.
